No one knows for sure what spurred Bundy to murder women, but a few authorities have their theories. For sure, he was a sexual deviate, at one point blaming pornography for his problem. However, many experts believe that this was just a scapegoat for him--they believe that the real reasons lie deep in his psyche and, as it still stands today, no one knows what actually motivated Bundy.

A few have their ideas though:

Robert Keppel, Ph.D--"Ted was a necrophiliac....It was the one part of his criminal behavior that truly embarrassed him because, as ugly as it was, it satisfied him sexually. Bundy was so severe a sexual deviate that he was probably unable to reach an orgasm unless his victim was dead or unconscious. Women threatened him. He was petrified of his victims, which was why he had to take control of them and incapacitate them. Everything he did--his ruses, lures, traps, and murders--was all secondary to his sexual satisfactions at having a dumpsite where his victims would wait for him in silent decay" (The Riverman by Robert D. Keppel).
