Bundy outside the Pitkin County courthouse on June 7, 1977. During a recess from a hearing, he walked into the library and stripped off several layers of clothing and jumped 25 feet out of a window to the ground. He was free for a week, wandering around the mountains aimlessly before being recaptured.
