Rewriting Expressivism:
A Student Memoir

I don't have to write this. The thought occurred to me as I read over the assignment for this first paper that even though the assignment itself spoke up saying "Write me! I'm a lot of fun and you'll be glad if you do," that I'd just be making extra work for myself, that the evenings spent playing UNO with friends well into the foggy hours close to dawn are usually regretted the next morning upon the discovery that one has, in a moment of hazy incoherence, dumped the orange juice over the cereal and caught oneself attempting to eat milk with a fork. I hope what I share with you today isn't like either of those socially odd behaviors, and I equally hope that it will lead me to greater, rather than diminished coherence. The discussion of Expressivism draws me in, maybe even inspires me. As I fret and fiddle with the more formal concerns of a Master's Thesis, writing this paper promises to be a refreshing interlude.
